Breast cancer is the first validated application. Research continues in further cancers.
The measurement behind Digistain reflects aneuploidy, a feature shared across many cancers. Applications beyond breast cancer are investigational, not available for clinical use.
Scientific rationale
Why the measurement may extend beyond breast cancer
Published work reports tumour copy-number alteration burden as a pan-cancer prognostic factor for recurrence and death (Hieronymus et al., eLife, 2018). The Digistain Index measures aneuploidy, the chromosomal instability behind that burden. This is the rationale for studying the measurement in other tumour types.
Research under way
Kidney, lung and prostate cancer
Digistain is researching the measurement in kidney, lung and prostate cancer. These applications are investigational, not available for clinical use.
